There were plenty of secrets, and pain to go around in this book. There was also joy and restoration. I love the integrity of Pastor George Landris altho he also had his share of situations to take to his heavenly Father. This book started a little slow for me, that could of been because I started it during the busy Christmas holiday. But when I really needed a break on Christmas night it really took off and I read until I finished the book. If you like Christian fiction I'd recommend this one, I just purchased the sequel to this one.Product details

It took me one day and night to read this book. The promises of God is a sermon by itself but to add on the other side of the Jordan, in the wildnerness. Lord this book was great. I could not put it down. From beginning to end. Come on we all have a Theresa Jordan in our lives totally self-centered. The drama, trouble and problems come along with it. Pastor Landris is a saint sent from God. Great Read..
I read this book about 4 years ago, after checking it out at a public library. I really didn't get a chance to read it and embrace like I did this time. Although I read it once before, it was like reading it for the very first time. I enjoyed it tremendously.
Ms. Griggs is an awesome author and she really made every facet of this story crystal clear. You should never judge a book by its cover, literally and figuratively. Just because the cover isn't appealing, don't underestimate the fact that there just maybe some gold nuggets inside.
This book is an excellent read and you will not be able to put it down until the end and even then it leaves you wanting more.
I first read "Wings of Grace" and "Blessed Trinity" and the stories left me with a lot of questions. So Promises Beyond Jordan and "The Rose of Jericho" answered those question and made the story more consistent. I loved this book and the whole series. I listened to the rest of the books on audible.com and wished these two books were on audible also.
Vanessa Davis Griggs is a phenomenal writer. It was nice to be able to read/listen to a series without the cursing and sex but with scriptures that can help me in my life. I want to know when her next installment will come out. Vanessa keep on Praising God through your writing. You got yourself a sure fan.
This was an excellent read. Author Vanessa Davis Griggs provides the reader with a story filled with love, hate, redemption, restoration, faith and hope.
Immediately, you are engrossed in the life of Theresa Jordan and Pastor George Landris. After their story is fully revealed, you wonder what in the world is he doing with a woman so broken? But, he is a God-fearing man who has this innate desire to do the right thing.
Griggs's characters are believable, authentic and real. This was my first time reading a book by her, but it certainly will not be my last.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.
George Landris is a wonderful pastor and teacher of Wings of Grace Faith Ministry Church. Members of the church thought that Pastor Landris should find a wife, he who finds a wife finds a good thing. Pastor Landris started dating Theresa Jordan the daughter of Bishop Richard Jordan. Theresa is selfish and does not think about other people feelings. Bishop Jordan is married to Beatrice. Bishop and Beatrice have kept a secret for years. There are times when we will all have troubles, but we need to pray and let God handle it. Promises Beyond Jordan is an awesome book that talks about faith, being true and honest...
Promises Beyond Jordan was a great book. It's a story of faith, family and forgiveness. Vanessa Davis Griggs writes novels that will make you feel good in the end. The character Theresa Jordan made me want to slap her a couple of times. But, finally at the end, she got it together. I love the fact that her characters weren't one dimensional. They were real characters with real flaws. I highly recommend this book.
Promises Beyond Jordan was such a sweet and sincere book. I've read all eight books in the Blessed Trinity Series so I was glad to see this book become available in ebook version. I loved it. It was great to see how much Pastor Landris loved Johnnie Mae Taylor even while she was married to someone else. He was a man of God but I did feel he was a bit dishonest with his fiancé, Theresa, by agreeing to marry her and he didn't love her. He was being pressured into this marriage by the church elders rather than waiting on God to give him his soulmate. In the end, the wedding did not take place. I just love Ms. Griggs' work and am a fan forever.
